Associate, Design Dept., Architectural Design Div.

Born in Shandong Province, China. Kyo finds the essential question of architecture in a line by the poet Du Fu: "How might I obtain a vast mansion of ten thousand rooms, to shelter all the poor scholars under heaven and make them rejoice together?" What this poem asks for is not simply "the provision of housing," but the need for places where all people can gather and mingle as equals. Kyo believes this also leads to a "beauty" that anyone can feel simply by being in such a place. Since coming to Japan in 2017, Kyo has worked on a wide range of projects, from private residences to large-scale mixed-use complexes, and is convinced that the role architecture must play is to create "places" where diverse people connect naturally beyond nationality and background, and where something new can take root. Alongside the philosophy of "Share" that U Share upholds, Kyo works as an architect to give shape to open architecture where everyone can be themselves.
