U Share co-hosted an English and Japanese language exchange event organized by QQEnglish at U Share Waseda WC1.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, U Share co-hosted an English and Japanese language exchange event organized by QQEnglish at U Share Waseda WC1. QQEnglish is an English education company that offers online English lessons and study-abroad programs in Cebu, the Philippines. U Share opened the residence's shared space as the venue, bringing its residents and staff together with university students and young professionals interested in English and international exchange.

QQEnglish created the program, and QQEnglish staff explained the game rules and ran the games. U Share staff supported the event on the day. The program was split evenly between English and Japanese, giving Japanese participants a chance to speak English and international students a chance to speak Japanese. After the icebreaker self-introduction game "YES Hunter," participants took on the communication games "Eigo Dake" and "Katakana Nashi," trying to get their meaning across with limited words.

The international students' efforts to communicate in Japanese inspired the Japanese participants, and a "let's just try speaking, even if we make mistakes" mood spread across the room. In the second half, everyone formed a circle and introduced themselves one by one, and the event closed with a group photo.

This event, held with an outside company in a residence's shared space, is one example of the way of living U Share aims for: shared spaces that connect residents with the local community and wider society.
