On October 21, 2026, CEO Masamichi Ueta spoke at a career development event hosted by the Master in Management program at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ).
The talk began with the origins of U Share: Ueta's experience of living in a student dormitory while studying at Harvard University. The wish to create a place in Japan where students can connect and exchange ideas led to the business U Share runs today.
He then introduced U Share's business model, which covers real estate investment, architectural design, construction, and property operations in-house, and explained how a vertically integrated company carries a project from concept through to daily operations.
In the second half, he looked back on the roughly six years it took to build the company's track record and credibility, including the hurdles of fundraising and the difficulty of asking investors to back a concept with no precedent. He closed with advice for students about to start their careers: what to keep in mind when pitching a business idea.
U Share also works with TUJ on "U Share Mishuku (tentative name)," scheduled to open in spring 2027.* We will keep expanding our points of contact with students, in both living and learning.
