House O

A project that holistically developed ancestral land in a quiet residential district of Minoo, Osaka, for a family descended from Koan Ogata. Inheriting the stained glass, Spanish roof tiles, and refined stylistic beauty of the main house left by an earlier generation, the design reinterprets them in a contemporary idiom and weaves them into a new space. In a courtyard enclosed by all four detached houses, trees and landscape that retain traces of the past bring a sense of calm to the entire community.
