At the Global Frontier: U Share Harvard & MIT Boston Tour 2026

As a Living-Learning Community dedicated to developing the next generation of global leaders, U Share aims to be a platform that keeps Japan connected to the world's frontier.

As part of that mission, we held a special academic tour of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) — the Boston area's two great centers of knowledge. Here is our report from four stimulating days on the ground.

Into the front lines of global knowledge and innovation

The tour visited Harvard Business School (HBS), the Graduate School of Design (GSD), the Kennedy School (HKS), and at MIT, the Media Lab and the School of Architecture and Planning.

Meeting outstanding students and entrepreneurs gathered from around the world, and experiencing first-hand where cutting-edge technology meets society, participants came away deeply inspired. Far more than a campus visit, the tour embodied the spirit U Share values most: keep updating yourself, and keep asking how you will contribute to society.

A global network that defines U Share

One of U Share's strengths is the direct relationships we maintain with deans and faculty members on the ground through our CEO's strong personal network — a rare kind of community in Japan. In the past, this has enabled special seminars welcoming Harvard professors as guests.

This tour likewise created invaluable opportunities for dialogue with the leaders shaping the frontier of knowledge. We will continue to hold programs like this from time to time, bringing this atmosphere of being connected to the world's front line — and this close community of students and faculty — back to our members.

From developing people to developing places — partnering with developers

We hope to bring communities that fuse world-class learning and living to more locations across Japan.

Drawing on the insights in spatial design and urban development gained at the frontier of academia, we will actively build partnerships with real-estate developers across the country. If you are interested in co-creating hubs where globally active talent can grow, we would love to hear from you via our Partners page.

U Share will continue to connect Tokyo with the world and drive initiatives that open up the future.
