Residential Education grows from sharing your interests and trying things with others in everyday life. At U Share, Bucket Lists and resident clubs offer a place to start.
Write down a dream or something to try
At Grand Welcome, held twice a year in spring and fall, you share your Bucket List. Put your interests and things you want to try in Japan into words. You can also post them on Circle, the resident community platform.
Meet people with shared interests
Read other residents’ Bucket Lists and comment on ideas that interest you. Finding something you would like to try together can be the beginning of a conversation and a new connection.
Turn an idea into a plan or a club
Post your idea and invite others to join. You can start a club or discuss dates and plans in a group, working together to make the idea happen.
Invite others and give it a try
Carry out your plan and share how it went. Inviting people, discussing responsibilities, and listening to different views are also opportunities to learn through daily life.
Reflect on the experience and what comes next
You may get to try something on your list or make new friends. Reflecting on the experience, including what did not go as planned, can help you notice how you have changed and decide what to try next.
Joining activities is optional. You can listen first, choose an activity that interests you, or make time for yourself. Take part at your own pace. What you achieve and how you grow will be different for everyone.

The flagship residence of U Share Student, opened in March 2021. All 31 rooms are fully furnished, so you can settle in the day you arrive. Four residents per floor share a kitchen, living space and bathroom — a share-house where you'll know your neighbours within days and make friends from your very first week. A 1–4 month monthly plan is available too, making it a great fit for shorter exchange stays.

Frequently Asked Questions
I barely speak Japanese — can I really live here?
Yes. English and Japanese mix naturally in daily life, and bilingual staff and RAs are always there. Ask anything, no matter how small.
Can I apply without a Japanese guarantor?
You can sign by using our designated guarantor company. Rooms come fully furnished, so arriving with one suitcase is enough.
Will I make friends, or end up isolated?
RAs invite you to meals and bring you into the circle, and monthly gatherings connect residents across floors. This community is designed so no one is left isolated.
How much does it actually cost to live at U Share?
Is it possible to visit the property before applying?
