Column

Thinking about joining U Share Student? Here is the full journey from entry to the start of your new life, together with answers to the questions we hear most often.

When you can move in

Resident selection is held mainly twice a year, in spring and autumn. When rooms are available, we also run selection on an inquiry basis — so feel free to reach out at any time of year.

Three steps to move-in

  1. Entry — Fill in and submit the form on the entry page.
  2. Proposal & contract — After reviewing your entry, we email a room proposal and estimate to applicants who match.
  3. Move-in — Once the contract is complete, your life at U Share begins.

Viewings are available by appointment only. Let us know your preferred date and time via the inquiry form — we would love to show you around.

Planning your budget

Estimated initial costs, including the first month's rent, are JPY 397,300–409,800 for WC1 (Nishi-Waseda) and JPY 423,000–424,500 for WC2 (Omokagebashi), tax included and varying by room type. Monthly fees include Wi-Fi and utilities, which makes your spending easy to predict. See the Costs category of our FAQ for the full breakdown.

If you cannot find a guarantor

You can still sign a contract by using our designated guarantor company (the company's screening may require a joint guarantor in some cases). Students arriving from overseas can rest assured.

Bring just one suitcase

Every room comes furnished with a bed and full bedding set, a desk, air conditioning and more — so one suitcase is all you need. Please note that large furniture such as pianos, big bookshelves, or sofas cannot be brought in.

For anything else, our FAQ answers 44 questions in detail. We look forward to your entry.
