As a Living-Learning Community that fuses housing and education, U Share is committed to connecting Japan with the global frontier. As part of that mission, we ran a special academic tour of the Boston area's two great centers of knowledge: Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Here is our report from four packed days on the ground.
Inside the world's leading centers of knowledge and innovation
The tour visited Harvard Business School (HBS), the Graduate School of Design (GSD), the Kennedy School (HKS), and at MIT, the Media Lab and the School of Architecture and Planning.
Meeting students and entrepreneurs gathered from around the world, and seeing first-hand how cutting-edge technology is implemented in society, participants came away deeply inspired. This was never just a campus visit — it embodied the spirit U Share values most: keep updating yourself, and keep asking how you will contribute to society.
Dialogue with education leaders
U Share maintains direct relationships with deans and faculty members on the ground — something rare for a community in Japan. In the past this has led to special seminars welcoming Harvard professors as guests, and on this tour it opened invaluable opportunities for dialogue with the leaders shaping the frontier of knowledge.
A daily life connected to the world's front line
This atmosphere of being connected to the world's front line, and the close community of students and faculty, are an extension of everyday life at U Share. We plan to keep running tours and seminars like this from time to time for our residents — and next time, one of the participants could be you.
