On October 21, 2026, U Share CEO Masamichi Ueta spoke at a career development event hosted by the Master in Management program at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ). Under the theme "Innovation & Real Estate in Japan," he told graduate students from around the world how U Share began and how the business has grown.

It started in a Harvard dormitory
The talk began with the origins of U Share: Ueta's experience of living in a student dormitory while studying at Harvard University. The wish to create a place in Japan where students can connect and exchange ideas led to the business U Share runs today. It is also why U Share cares about learning, not only housing.
From concept to operations, in-house
He then introduced U Share's business model, which covers real estate investment, architectural design, construction, and property operations in-house, and explained how a vertically integrated company carries a project from concept through to daily operations.
Six years of building the company, and a message for students
In the second half, he looked back on the roughly six years it took to build the company's track record and credibility, including the hurdles of fundraising and the difficulty of asking investors to back a concept with no precedent. He closed with advice for students about to start their careers: what to keep in mind when pitching a business idea.

Our connection with TUJ continues
U Share also works with TUJ on "U Share Mishuku (tentative name)," scheduled to open in Mishuku in spring 2027 as an international student residence officially recognized by Temple University, Japan Campus (press release of July 21, 2026, in Japanese). We will keep expanding our points of contact with students, in both living and learning.
Photos and a report from the day are also available on the official LinkedIn and Instagram accounts of TUJ Master in Management.
